HelpChios Relief Fund
Astoria, NY – February 23, 2013
On Friday, February 1, 2013, the HelpChios Relief Fund of the Chian Federation of America, wired $5,000 to the Iera Mitropolis Chiou in direct support of its efforts to provide sustenance for needy families affected by the economic situation in Chios and Greece.
This is the 10th consecutive monthly contribution since the HelpChios Relief Fund began.
The mission of the HelpChios Relief Fund is to raise enough funds to allow for a monthly remittance in support of the food pantries (sisitia) which are under the direct control and supervision of the Chios Metropolis and Metropolitan Markos. The sisitio currently prepares over 570 meals daily.
The relief effort has grown into a philanthropic endeavor involving many Chians, Hellenes and organizations throughout the United States.
Donations should be made out to: The Chian Federation/HelpChios Relief Fund, and mailed to The Chian Federation, 44-01 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11103.
